ALL the rooms are NO smoking rooms. The room had a queen size bed and was comfortable. In the room was an extra pillow and blanket, if needed. blow dryer, and a coffee maker. I liked that it had hooks on the wall to hang your coats. There was also 2 counter height shelving units without doors to store your items in or put stuff on top. The room was a nice size that had been updated was clean and looked very nice. The window did face the street with all the neon lights, however the window had updated wood blinds & blackout curtains so NO light shined through while we were sleeping. The elevator worked well and was updated to a wood rustic theme. This hotel has a lot of history so I would encourage you to look up its past. Some of the history is that it was the tallest building in Nevada for its time and it was the first fireproof building. They have put lots of historical items and pictures on every floor. We did not have a pet but they did allow pets They have security camera around the outside of the building and in the parking lot behind the building. We were traveling with a car full of items and 2 bikes attached to our trunk. This made us feel better about our items being safe. They also stated that they do not have problems. The main casino is exactly what you would expect. Bar, smoke, gambling. They have a Denny's located on the main floor. The sever was very friendly and the food just what you would expect from Denny's. They also have a variety of good restaurants located very close, we walked to The RACK which was about a block and a half away and was excellent. We only stayed on night and were very happy with this hotel. It was exactly what we expected for a 1929 building.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs even though Booking.com had messed up our reservation (they had booked us for 2 rooms). I did get in touch with Booking.com and they said (twice) that they had sent a message to the hotel to rectify the problem. The hotel said they would need that message to rectify it but, even though they didn't get the message, they over-rode the system to take care of us. Also, after we got our room, our neighbors were a large family with young, LOUD, children. After a couple of hours of this, we very nicely voiced concern with the front desk. We didn't want to cause trouble but the front desk was very understanding and moved us to another room which turned out to be much nicer. Obviously, we gave the clerk a nice tip. She deserved it!

Historic property with a lot of character. Lots of memorabilia and historic photos of the region scattered around the hotel, including on room floors. Lots of murals depicting area scenery and history. The room rate includes a free bar drink in the evening and free Denny's breakfast in the morning. Decent wifi, great view from my room of the downtown area and surrounding mountains. A walk of fame out front shows famous names who have visited the hotel, including a former president, a former senator, and A-list entertainers. A handful of other bars/restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. If you're a history buff, this hotel is a must-visit.

If you happen to want to stay for a week, the suites-- which are really just rooms with slightly better views and somewhat nicer furniture-- have really big dressers you might find convenient. Ely is still a surprisingly frontier town in many ways, so what's available will be modest-- but don't be afraid to ask, you will sometimes be surprised. The staff tries pretty hard to make people happy. Also, late check-in isn't a problem here as long as you let them know what's going on first. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Nobody has to call "corporate" here, but they do need to know what's going on.

I loved that it was a historical hotel. The rooms were remodeled in a modern look. Our view looked out on Main Street. That was cool. The beds were comfortable. It was close to most of the history places in Ely and only a mile from the train station. It is located in a good place to get around anywhere in Ely. Ely has some neat murals downtown to walk around and check out. The hotel does have some neat decor and a walk of fame outside. The hotel had plenty of parking in the back and did offer complimentary drinks for a beer or margarita at their bar.
